LGN Regents Park 1km Loop

Tuesday, 26th May 2009
LGN 1km loops have been located and measured at several key points around London for use primarily by LGN Run Clubs http://www.lgnwellbeing.com/

These LGN 1km loops serve several key purposes:

-

  1. Provide comparable LGN standard course for all our Run Clubs
  2. Via monthly time trial assist with tangible fitness progress
  3. Offer guide to tempo for people planning fun runs or PB races
  4. Building confidence for those aiming for initial 5km or 10km
  5. Help fan the flames of Inter LGN Run Club banter

While we at LGN embrace technology with a cuddly bear lost & found like grip, and indeed for identifying our LGN 1km loops we used internet mapping to find best routes with same start / finish area, however when it came to accurate measurement we laughed in the face of GPS and used trusted measuring techniques for inch perfect accuracy, thus while you will have a route map to provide, rest easy knowing we walked every single 1km loop with a manual measuring wheel to make sure each one LGN 1km loop is indeed exactly 1km.

Each LGN 1km loop is measure slowly and accurately by Sports Science qualified craftsman

The Regents Park 1km loop is a beautiful single loop around the Inner Circle whoch sits in the middle of the park and is a mere 20 metres shy of 1,000m aka 1km.

If you would like map directions and simple instructions please click this mapping link:

However, if you would like a more detailed pictorial guide to route and advised start & finish points just scroll down below.

We started our loop by the entrance gates opposite Chester Road and just to the left by the below the sign.

The 1km starting point sign with white painted line

The white painted line represents yoru strt point as you launch yourself anti-clockwise

Keeping railings on your left, you start off on very slight downhill

After nearly 500m you will pass the Park Cafe on your left - your latte awaits..

As you crest the slight hill, you will pass the bigger gates opposite York Bridge

As the lactic increases so does the hedge height on your left - only 100m to go

At the gates you started from, go 20m past your start line and the furthest gate entrance is your finish point - hurrah.
We hope you can either join us with our monthly time trials or perhaps use it for a solo rep session, do five and get a 5km time or perhaps as even a guide to tempo for an upcoming race.

And we look forward to hearing your results - please let us know via this blog or indeed via our The LGN Run Club on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=24456264587
-
Or if you think your company should join the likes of BP, M&C Saatchi & Nike et al and deserves an uber cost effective LGN Run Club, then contact us via info@lgnwellbeing.com for more info.

Happy running from all the team at LGN

This months 1k effort around the original central Regents Park route had PB.s and personal course records. There was a bit of a tussle at the finish. A photo was needed to split the group. Fantastic!
Rob F - 3.25 Another solid performance leading the close knit group round the loop.
Kate S - 3.57 - Although you didn’t like the loop as much (not knowing when the finish was coming) you still posted a respectable time. 7 seconds of your previous best time.
Tom B - 3.28 - A mighty 10 seconds improvement on May’s time. Fantastic focused effort.
Rachel R - 4.43 - Doing the 1k effort the hard way on tired legs. Tough but committed. Good.
Ashleigh - 4.40 - Nice to have you back in the group. Good performance.
Matt R - A storming 3.26 PB by 4 seconds. Improving now the legs not tired from bike racing!

Our second outing to the inner circle 1km loop was much kinder to us on the weather front. 10 bodies took to the line with an impressive 7 new pb's and one newcomer time being produced!!!
Well done to Emma on smashing her previous best and to Julie and Sarah who also took sizeable chunks off their previous pb's. It was good to see that Matus continues to lower that club record ever closer to the magical 3min mark.

Very warm conditions in mid-summer for the crew at Omni Com Run club and despite the temptation to join the masses sunbathing in the park at lunch time 8 people resisted. There were some excellent performances with more new pb’s. Results are as follows

A combination of holidays, meetings and exams saw numbers down for July's Cushman and Wakefield 1km, nonetheless the two who did run made up with some hefty improvements. Katerina M 4.44 (7% improvement from June, 18% improvement from May)
Laura S 6.12 (17% improvement from May)

Warm and humid conditions on Wednesday 27th June greeted runners from Omni Com Run club as they lined up for the monthly 1km time trial. Possibly not the best conditions for running quickly over the challenging distance you would think? To their credit the crew from Omni Com stood up to the challenging conditions and ran superbly. Super sub 3 minute new 2012 record for the men from James and the 2nd fastest ladies time of 2012 from Ingrid.
On the biggest percentage improvements Fred surely has a prize with a record breaking 22.9% improvement. Lizzie and Matt also made significant improvement. The full results are as follows

An overcast Tuesday evening saw a hardy band of 4 runners from Cushman and Wakefield step up to the plate and challenge themselves over the 1km distance. With 2 debut runs and 2 improvements a successful evening's running was had. Special mention must go to James M who in spite of recent struggles with injury recorded an 11 second (5%) improvement on his May time, and to Katerina whose consistency has paid off with a huge 42 second (12 %) improvement on her May time.

Warm, sunny but humid conditions greeted ten of the Omni Com crew as they ventured into the Inner Circle at Regents Park for the monthly time trial. The conditions were not the best for fast times but despite this a number of people managed to push through the pain barrier and improve on their recent times. Special mention to Ingrid who is ever so close to the 4' barrier and James who despite the absence of Alex got ever so close to sub 3'. Debut runs from Victoria and Elizabeth who now have a start point to work from over the coming months. With summer months ahead I hope Omni Com will keep their eye on the target of producing their best performances in September at the Inter Advertising 5km event!
Result of May time trial below

The April Omni Com 1km was postponed due to heavy rain and the extra week resulted in cracking performances from those taking part in cool conditions. Its clear to see Omni Com have some people who are sharpening up for the Olympic Summer ahead.

Ingrid 4:13 (3.8% improvement on 2012 p.b. and great time helping her team mates run faster)

After a 1 month hiatus McCann runnners ventured back to Regents Park to have a crack at the 1k loop.
Alastair MC smashed the current LGN course record with a sub 3min effort- coming home in 2.56..
Looks like Alastair is looking strong for September's 5k challenge. Can anyone can take down his 1k time?

Great to see so many fast times at Regents Park. This will clearly be the hub for some intriguing battles in July and August between the speed stars at McCann, Vizeum and Omnicom.
This round (June) clearly goes to Alistair at McCann with the first sub 3mins clocking. It will be interesting to see how James W (previous record holder)at Omnicom responds and I am sure the boys at Vizeum will not take this lying down? I look forward to seeing your efforts in July.
Of course this is only the first course the main event will come on September 8th for the LGN Inter-Agency 5K where bragging rights will be earned!
Keep up the good work

Sorry Mat,
I'm afraid the course record holder is James W of Omnicom with a 3:04 in May, and he equalled it in June!
I'm sure having someone clipping at his heels will give some further motivation.

A time followed by a (W) would usually be associated with the 'celebrity in a reasonably priced car' board on Topgear, however this week the Omnicom Run Club members performed their time trial in somewhat damp conditions and can definately put a (W) against their name. However, they should all get bonus seconds just for turning up if you ask me, our meet time of 1pm was greeted with a torrential downpour, but this didn't deter three 1k debutants, and James W equalling his LGN Regent's park loop record;

It's a record! That's right, Omnicom are now the proud holders of the Regent's park LGN 1km Loop record, thanks to the efforts of James Williams, who smashed the old record jointly held by TBWA & McCann run club members. But it wasn't just impressive times being shown at the front end, everyone excelled, as all who ran matched or improved on their previous time and two debutants came in well under 5 minutes.
