LGN Regents Park 1km Loop

27 May, 2009
Once a private hunting ground for Henry 8th and now open to you for your very own royal LGN 1km romp, the Royal Parks 'Jewel in the Crown' is indeed a tad special

Primrose Hill is a mere 5 minute jog from our LGN 1km loop, how about warming down with a view to explaining the benefits of training at lactic threshold to Sienna and chums?

Regents Park theatre is located only only inches from your own LGN 1km loop theatre of dreams

LGN 1km loops have been located and measured at several key points around London for use primarily by LGN Run Clubs http://www.lgnwellbeing.com/

These LGN 1km loops serve several key purposes:

-

  1. Provide comparable LGN standard course for all our Run Clubs
  2. Via monthly time trial assist with tangible fitness progress
  3. Offer guide to tempo for people planning fun runs or PB races
  4. Building confidence for those aiming for initial 5km or 10km
  5. Help fan the flames of Inter LGN Run Club banter

Let us assure you we at LGN take measuring very seriously, oh yes

While we at LGN embrace technology with a cuddly bear lost & found like grip, and indeed for identifying our LGN 1km loops we used internet mapping to find best routes with same start / finish area, however when it came to accurate measurement we laughed in the face of GPS and used trusted measuring techniques for inch perfect accuracy, thus while you will have a route map to provide, rest easy knowing we walked every single 1km loop with a manual measuring wheel to make sure each one LGN 1km loop is indeed exactly 1km.

Each LGN 1km loop is measure slowly and accurately by Sports Science qualified craftsman

The Regents Park 1km loop is a beautiful single loop around the Inner Circle whoch sits in the middle of the park and is a mere 20 metres shy of 1,000m aka 1km.

If you would like map directions and simple instructions please click this mapping link:

However, if you would like a more detailed pictorial guide to route and advised start & finish points just scroll down below.

We started our loop by the entrance gates opposite Chester Road and just to the left by the below the sign.

The 1km starting point sign with white painted line

The white painted line represents yoru strt point as you launch yourself anti-clockwise

Keeping railings on your left, you start off on very slight downhill

After nearly 500m you will pass the Park Cafe on your left - your latte awaits..

As you crest the slight hill, you will pass the bigger gates opposite York Bridge

As the lactic increases so does the hedge height on your left - only 100m to go

At the gates you started from, go 20m past your start line and the furthest gate entrance is your finish point - hurrah.
We hope you can either join us with our monthly time trials or perhaps use it for a solo rep session, do five and get a 5km time or perhaps as even a guide to tempo for an upcoming race.

And we look forward to hearing your results - please let us know via this blog or indeed via our The LGN Run Club on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=24456264587

Happy running from all the team at LGN

16 brave souls gathered for the first Omnicom time trial of 2012. In mild temperatures (for Jan!) 10 degrees and a winter sun on their backs some impressive times were achieved with some long standing PB's finally broken, others with some near misses and a host of debutantes'.

It's only January but Omnicom look like putting up a strong defense of their LGN Wellbeing 5K team Prize.

On a rain soaked evening the Vizeum Team once again took to the inner loop of Regents Park to tackle the 1k time trial. Not to be downbeat after the lower attendance everyone performed fantastically to record some very impressive times. Big shout out must go to Leela who recorded a massive 48 second improvement, congratulations you fully deserve that time after all your hard work!

The Vizeum team took on this months time trial slightly down on numbers but not in general enthusiasm. As always some great results where produced and also some solid debut performance to add to the group.

Well done and keep up the good work!

Theo no changes in 3.53
Ahmed no change in 3.43
Rich 1% idown in 3.25
Lisa 1% improvement in 6 on the nose!

Well done.... Next month WE WILL BE BACK!!!!

Great to see so many fast times at Regents Park. This will clearly be the hub for some intriguing battles in July and August between the speed stars at McCann, Vizeum and Omnicom.

This round (June) clearly goes to Alistair at McCann with the first sub 3mins clocking. It will be interesting to see how James W (previous record holder)at Omnicom responds and I am sure the boys at Vizeum will not take this lying down? I look forward to seeing your efforts in July.

Of course this is only the first course the main event will come on September 8th for the LGN Inter-Agency 5K where bragging rights will be earned!

Keep up the good work

Ben
Operations Manager

After a 1 month hiatus McCann runnners ventured back to Regents Park to have a crack at the 1k loop.

Alastair MC smashed the current LGN course record with a sub 3min effort- coming home in 2.56..

Looks like Alastair is looking strong for September's 5k challenge. Can anyone can take down his 1k time?

The intense heat and humidity did not encourage many runners out last night... but the two gents that put their fitness before their fan made improvements on their 1k times.

What would have been possible in more friendly conditions????

Ahmad S, 3.42, 5% improvement.
Richard S, 3.22, 4% improvement.

Good work, LA was well and truly sweated out!

A time followed by a (W) would usually be associated with the 'celebrity in a reasonably priced car' board on Topgear, however this week the Omnicom Run Club members performed their time trial in somewhat damp conditions and can definately put a (W) against their name. However, they should all get bonus seconds just for turning up if you ask me, our meet time of 1pm was greeted with a torrential downpour, but this didn't deter three 1k debutants, and James W equalling his LGN Regent's park loop record;

If Carlsberg did 1k time trials they would recruit Vizeum!

Everybody was warned, and the SweatClubbers brought home what the crowd wanted, RECORDS! Yes everyone, we now have a new 1k Regent's Park Record holder in amongst the Vizeum Crew, Ben Nicholas take a bow. Don't be fooled either, there is still plenty more to come from the whole group!

Sorry Mat,
I'm afraid the course record holder is James W of Omnicom with a 3:04 in May, and he equalled it in June!
I'm sure having someone clipping at his heels will give some further motivation.

The Vizeum crew took Regent's Park by storm last night and firmly cemented their names in amongst LGN's finest. Excellant performances throughout the whole group, indicating potential for future course record holders.... Watch this space!

It's a record! That's right, Omnicom are now the proud holders of the Regent's park LGN 1km Loop record, thanks to the efforts of James Williams, who smashed the old record jointly held by TBWA & McCann run club members. But it wasn't just impressive times being shown at the front end, everyone excelled, as all who ran matched or improved on their previous time and two debutants came in well under 5 minutes. Great work.

TBWA leggy warriors do Regents Park!

The official 1k loop times are as follows...

Andrew Bloom 3.51, the new kid on the block!
Lisa Hall 6.04, the leading Lady!
Theo Bayani 3.54 (PB3.28), King of the club!
Justin Martin 3.49 (PB3.38), he has done a marathon!
Ahmad Salim 3.53, slim Jim!
Tom Stanford 3.14, the speedy viking!
Richard Scott 3.31 (PB3.13), 1 & 3 are his favourite numbers clearly!

Tom Stanford equals the course record set by Alistair of McCann...

WELL DONE!

The McCann LGN Run Club ventured out from their usual training venue in Russell Square to take on the challenge of the 1K Loop in Regent's Park and compare themselves against some of the other LGN run clubs (Omnicomm!) The team posted some solid times and will look to consistently improve upon these times as we get closer to the LGN 5K in September. You have been warned!

Alistair 3mins 14secs (New Club Captain and Course Record for Regents Park)
Adam 3mins 57secs (Another sub 4mins clocking in a different venue)
Kashia 4mins 24secs (Another solid showing)
Louise 4mins 48secs (Continuing to make progress)

Watch out come May these times will come tumbling down now they know the course!
